Thank you to the nearly 300 Wolverton residents, businesses and visitors who came to the Public Review of the emerging proposals for the Agora site on 13th to 15th June. We’ve received over 200 completed feedback forms, providing a comprehensive range of comments.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive: the proportion of respondents rating the proposals as “great”, ”good” or “OK” was over 80% for layout, mix of uses, streets and movement, landscape and phasing and over 70% for height and character. Even on car parking, where concerns about loss of town centre parking came through clearly, the proportion was above 60%.
Apart from parking, the issues most commonly raised in written comments concerned the scale and appearance of key corner buildings, the architectural style and its relation to the Victorian context, and the viability of new independent retail.
We will be revisiting all of these points as the design is further developed prior to submission of a planning application. To allow due consideration, we now intend to submit the planning application in early September rather than late July.
