Local people will have seen works taking place in recent days on the Agora site. Intrusive site investigations have been undertaken to establish the conditions of the ground, the presence of any contaminants, and other matters that will affect how drainage, foundations and other ground-works are to be designed and constructed.
Over the coming weeks, the following work will also be taking place:
- hoarding of parts of the Agora’s exterior to improve security and deter access to the building’s upper external walkways;
- a full asbestos refurbishment and demolition survey to establish the extent of asbestos in the building and provide the basis for a detailed method statement for demolishing the Agora later this year;
- a soft strip of the Agora internally to remove the main building services (water, heating, power); and
- removal of remaining business signage.
